Baracuda

2002 was a very successful year for the Suprime Music team and at the end of that year they brought off another great coup! It started with a pretty strange idea: The producers Axel Konrad und Ole Wierk and their friend and DJ-colleague Toby Sky whom they had already know for many years, wanted to rework the old „deutscher Schlager“ hit „Verdammt ich lieb dich“ from Matthias Reim in a modern way and with English lyrics in order to present it to the new generation. It has to be explainned that this song is like a hyme for the Germans and recently got position 1 of the German language alltime-hits, presented by a big TV-station. It didn’t take a long time untill the idea became reality and the first demo was finished. They just had to look for a good and suitable voice. By chance, a friend introduced the 22 years old singer Sunny to them, she sang the song and it definately worked very well right from the start. As they also liked each other and Sunny wasn’t contracted to any other act – she was the right girl to be in front of Baracuda!. Asking Toby Sky about the name Baracuda you simply get a smile and a hardly understandable mumbling of words like fish, rum and spinning records. It’s apparently just one of his nice memory-pieces about deejaying . The song was called „Damn!“ and peaked at position 12 in the German Single Charts. Simultaneously Sunny und DJ Toby Sky got a big hype and started to perform their show in a lot of European clubs and events. Also the 2nd single „I leave the World today“ reached a good chart-position and got a lot international releases, e.g. in Japan, Spain and Canada. Based on this success Baracuda became part
of the joint venture project Future Trance United to which also such other
well-known artists like Special D, Rocco etc. belong to. |
